Imperial Hotel Lansdowne 4 Months ago
Hi. I had my first holiday in Bournemouth as a youngster with my parents in the late fifties. I remember a wonderful time. We stayed at the Imperial Hotel Lansdowne. I have tried to find photographs and maybe some history of the hotel but so far without luck. Any help much appreciated!

Hi - I have one (not very good!) photo of the Imperial Hotel, which I've posted here if you would like to download it. It's only 105KB, so not too big!!

As far as I know, the Imperial opened in 1888, and closed sometime in the ealry 1960's, as far as I know.
The Roundhouse hotel was built on the site, and opened in 1969. There is a photo here on the current hotel website.

I only have very vague memories of seeing the old Imperial as a boy --we didn't go to the Lansdowne very often!!

Hi. Thanks so much for the photo. It brings back some very happy memories. Needless to say I do still visit Bournemouth as often as I can and still find it a very special place to be!

Note to anyone - The Roundhouse Hotel is pretty shabby inside now, my sister stayed there and there was no carpet under the beds!
