Some of the images on this site are scans of old photographs or negatives, others are scans of printed postcards. Generally postcards that have been printed are of a lesser quality than actual photographs due to the basic printing processes used. Colour
A number of images on the site appear in colour but are dated pre-1950. This may seem strange in that colour photography and printing was not yet overly developed, accesible or affordable.
Images on the site would have started life as a black and white image and then "colourised" after production (either recently or at the time) to create a colour version. This process involves an artist colouring in the original so colour accuracy is rarely correct. We never attempt to "colourise" images used on this site. Any source material already colourised is shown as presented.
Scanning
All images were scanned at 600dpi from the best source material available. To make the images appropriate for the internet they were downsized to fit. If you'd like to find out more about the technology behind Real Bournemouth please contact us.
Copyright
Where known, we have credited the copyright holder of any specific image. All other images are believed to be in the public domain and used in good faith. If you are the copyright holder of any image and would like to be credited or have an image removed please contact us.
